The project was originally over budget and due to height restrictions was not meeting historic city restrictions. The Sluss+Padgett team was able to think outside the box and reengineer the HVAC system from a chilled water to a variable refrigerant flow system. This reduced the weight on the roof which in turn reduced our structural costs, getting us back within budget. This also allowed us to eliminate the penthouse on the roof and clear the height restriction. We were able to save approximately $500,000 with this change and get the project off the ground.
